Reevaluating self-publishing


Self-Publishing

Self-publishing is a concept and practice that I have long been fascinated with. As an avid reader and someone who follows the news of the book publishing industry on a regular basis, I tend to stray away from self-published works on the basis of what I perceive to be its unedited and unrefined nature. However, in doing extensive research on self-publishing for this website, I have come to reevaluate my previous stance. In placing self-publishing in context of the Internet and all the advances that it has brought, I believe that self-publishing is no longer the unappealing option it once was. In fact, if anything, the stories told via self-publishing can be hidden gems with innovative ideas and plots, unique amongst the crop of like-minded stories put out by traditional publishers.
