Traditional versus Self Publishing

The Ramblings of a Young Writer

Today I attended my first writing seminar. The topic was self publishing. Things to consider, questions to ask yourself, certain things to avoid (vanity presses for instance) and other items were covered.

I had looked into this route many times, but I was completely unaware of all the things to consider. Copyrights, ISBNs, to e-book or not to e-book, who will illustrate the cover, who will typeset and take your manuscript from ideas to printable and so on.

Then there is the issue of do I want to own my ISBN or just let something like create space take care of everything for me. So many things to consider!

But regardless, I am pumped by the idea of self publishing. I know that it will be costly, time consuming and incredibly difficult, but oh so worth it.
