How To Know You’re A Writer

Creative Writing with the Crimson League

My last few posts have been good for me to write, and I hope people have enjoyed reading them, but I do feel like they’ve been kind of heavy. Heavier than I usually write, at least. So, today, I figured I’d do something fun and light. How do you know you’re a writer?

  1. YOU DON’T COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING BORED ON SLOW DAYS AT WORK. Slow days mean time to plot, or even to write. While you’re being paid. What’s not to like???
  2. YOU PEOPLE-WATCH A LOT. And envision the more, well, unique individuals as book characters, either minor or major, attributing characteristics based on their appearance. Kind of superficial–ok, VERY superficial–but productive in a professional sense.
  3. DREAMS ARE PLOT-FODDER AND STORY-FODDER. Well, they can be. Not 100% of the time, or anything close to that, but they can be. The ones you can remember to some extent, anyway.
